January 20, 2025 at 9:56 am #21529Digital communication platforms for municipalities in general span from simple messengers to kind of face-book like platforms that allow participants to form groups and generate projects. Both tiypes have advantages and disadvantages. One of the rather simple messenger-like apps in Switzerland is megaphone https://www.megaphone.info/ utilised by smart villages such as Ernen, Eischoll and other municipalities in canton Wallis. A more sophisticated tool is crossiety implemented in more than 150 municipalities in Switzerland, Germany and Liechtenstein. A German competitor of crossiety is DorfFunk App https://www.digitale-doerfer.de/mitfunken/ that has been created in the framework of the project Digitale Dörfer.

Digital communication platforms play a crucial role in enhancing local engagement and connecting municipalities with their residents. It’s great to see how tools like Megaphone, Crossiety, and DorfFunk are fostering community interaction, from quick updates to collaborative projects. Such platforms are essential for building stronger, more connected local communities.
