This is a post about the region where I live, Upper Austria. In the last few years, Upper Austria has focused on developing smart solutions everyone can use for free. For example DORIS (Digitales oberösterreichische Raum-Informations-System), which provides municipalities and cities with information about land, their official zoning and also information about any dangers. This is used for urban planning, but also for infrastructure management and emergency management. We also have a lot of e-government portals. If you need a confirmation of your residency at a specific address, you can simply request it online and after paying a small fee you get your confirmation.

Hi Jorge!

I’ve optimized my home. I’ve got some Smart Thermostats installed, which reduce energy usage by adjusting the temperature based on whether you’re home, asleep or away. It also generates energy usage reports!

I have also replaced my traditional light bulbs with energy-efficient LED bulbs using smart lighting systems, which I can control in an app. LEDs consume less power and last longer. However, they have a higher upfront cost compared to traditional lighting.

Has anyone else got some tips to reduce energy consumption? Please let us know!
